CHAPTER 14
DIGVIJAY
I heard someone snigger in the background, but I didnât know who it was. My brain stopped working the moment that Tasha stuck her tongue into my mouth, sending all the blood rushing down south.
All I could do was kiss her back with all my pent-up passion and pray this would never end. It did, and far too soon.
Samar clapped me on the shoulder hard enough to dislocate my shoulder.
âMove it, Romeo. We canât keep the police waiting any longer. They are already pissed about the fact that my team covered the crime scene far better than theirs did. I donât want to spend the whole of next week in jail,â he grumbled.
I pulled away from Tasha reluctantly and was pleased to see her look a little dazed. I wished we had tried solving our fights like this while we were engaged. Maybe weâd be married by now, and I wouldnât be walking around with my frustrated dick cursing me out for letting him down again.
Sam and I headed for his car, while the girls settled down to watch some TV. We were in for a long night because first, we had to convince the cops at Panjim police station to keep Tashaâs involvement a secret, including any mention of the shrine in Vishalâs house that had her photos all over it. One way or another, we were going to bury her involvement in this matter.
Or so I thought.
Jaideep was waiting for us outside the station, and he didnât look happy.
âWhatâs wrong?â
âThe senior Inspector is a self-righteous pain in the ass,â he said grimly.
âWhat do you mean?â I asked.
âHe likes to do things by the book, and according to him, weâre so out of the book that we canât even see the book. Youâre going to have to make some calls, DV.â
I groaned at the very thought. I had pull with the Director General of the Goa Police because I had helped him nab a Russian mob boss who was using Goan shores to smuggle rocket launchers and ammo into the country. But the moment I made that call, every cop on the case was going to be against us, and Iâd bet my last penny theyâd leak the whole story to the press by this time tomorrow.
âLetâs try this the hard way first,â I suggested, as I led the way into the Station.
We knocked on Inspector Machhendra Sawantâs door and waited for him to invite us in. We had to make him feel like he was the boss here, and that we were cooperating with the investigation fully.
âCome in,â he called out brusquely.
We walked in and introduced ourselves. I was very careful to not mention my royal title because it was meaningless here. Inspector Sawant leaned back in his chair and studied us with a barely concealed sneer.
âWelcome to our humble police station, Maharaj Ji,â he said, with open mockery. âPlease, take a seat and tell me whom you want me to beat up for you today. Goa Police is at your service.
